Down go some of the Xbox Live games
kotaku.com Wrote:Microsoft's decision tonight to end online play for all original Xbox consoles and games marks the end of an era in console gaming. Let's take a minute to remember those titles who tonight gave their lives.

Being the first successful platform for online console gaming (sorry, Dreamcast), the Xbox was home to many good games that were made better by online multiplayer, and some great games that were made classics.

Games like these, for which the looming disconnect brings an end to their multiplayer lives (not to mention the life of any digital content purchased for them), and for whom we'll now observe a minute's silence.

Halo 2
Counter-Strike
Burnout 3
Burnout Revenge
Ghost Recon
Call of Duty 2
Dead or Alive Ultimate
Doom 3
Star Wars: Battlefront 2
Battlefield 2
Forza
Rainbow Six 3
Call of Duty 3
Mechassault 2
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Crimson Skies

Age shall not weary them. Now, back to Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 3, eh?

(If you can think of any original Xbox Live titles dear to your heart that I've overlooked, let me know, I'll add them to the list)

First, Ensemble Studios,

NOW THEY CANCEL THE ORIGINALS?!

Microsoft just lost one fan permanently, I fucking loved to play the original's mp.

I personally don't understand why they've done it. It makes no sense what so ever.

The disbanding of Ensemble was a pretty bold move, one of Microsoft's most prolific developers just closed like that given no reason.

They've been making some odd choices as of recent.

Yeah but wasn't Ensemble's staff just moved to another company under Microsoft? Which is another confusing move.

Pretty much, although there was some dispersion going on, it seems most were just placed into a new studio.

There has to be a strategical reason for it, it makes no sense branding-wise, and just seems to be an unnecessary disruption to the team.

Maybe Microsoft are going for a Zerg Rush. KEKEKEKEKEKE

Or perhaps they didn't have certain rights to the company, such as the name or whatever. Thats the only reason I can think of to take a well known brand and re-brand it
