So, we've known about this for a very long time, Ubisoft's pathetic excuse at DRM, the one that requires an internet connection whilst playing single player games...

Well, the servers went down a day ago, and they're still down. Its left somewhere around 1 in 20 legitimate paying customers being unable to play Assassins Creed 2, and silent hunter.

Ubisoft's response? - "We're sorry"

Turns out there was a DDoS attack on the servers causing some of them to go down.
Personally, I think sorry just doesn't cut it, essentially they're selling a broken game and once again highlights the issue that these DRM attempts are a complete shamble as the pirates ultimately get the full game after they crack it in a day or two.
Surely some boffin would of considered the fact they would annoy so many people, bring a high profile to the release of the game, that they would be attacked, and possibly consider having a contingency for such an event. Evidently not.

TL;DR Ubisoft are arseholes.

Unfortunately part of your statement is in fact incorrect, AC2 hit torrents before the release date Fully working, it bypasses the crappy Uplay system which is what their DRM is called and allows you to play and save without any problems. Lets join hands and say:

FUCK YOU UBISOFT

As you may be able to tell, I'm strongly, strongly against this DRM system.
